hallelujah!!!!
It was Skype after all. Removed program and all was well. Reloaded and problem was back. Looking throgh Skype help etc discoved the Skype IE add on which "Changres numbers to Skype call links.

Well solved Albie - I didn't realise you had Skype, so that's a new 'problem' learned if it comes up again.
