PostSubject: Microsoft outlook e-mail   Tue Jan 20, 2009 10:58 pm

just a small problem this time, its that i cant send an e-mail to myself and i dont know if its avasts fault/or it has some inbuilt protection thinking my mail has been hijacked etc.

The following message to <joebloggs@taktalk.net> was undeliverable.
The reason for the problem:
5.1.0 - Unknown address error 554-'5.7.1 <smtp-out-4.talktalk.net[xx.xx.xxx.xxx]>: Client host rejected: Access denied'

I disabled the avast e-mail shield and it makes no difference.I send e-mail to myself for test purposes, not
psychiatric purposes Wink

Sending a email back to yourself is always a good way of testing both your internet connection, ISP and email clients, as it can save a lot of time if having to rely and wait for someone else to reply to you and even then you don't always know straight away that they have sent it.

The first thing I would be inclined to do is to check that it is being spelt correctly (double check) don't take it for granted that just because it's your own address typed by you that it is correct.

As for Avast, I doubt very much if it's going to be that, plus you have said that you did try deactivating the email setting (although I'm not entirely sure how you managed to do that.

Unless the address you've typed in is actually incorrect, then the problem appears to be with the TalkTalk mail system and not something within your own computer. They are saying that the address is "unknown" which means that, as it appears in the message, it doesn't exist.

Nice to see the problem is solved.

Actually it's only now that you mentioned it that I spotted the original spelling mistake.
