When playing DVDs in husband's power point programs the picture won't show - the sound is OK

I know I need a codec as have had the problem before - but there are thousands out there! Can someone tell me which one or pack to download to fix this problem.

Have Vista Home Premium and windows media player.

Thanks Zante.

The K-Lite Codec Pack is supposed to include everything that most users are likely to need.

Thanks Mike, I saw that and wasn't sure if it was a good thing to download or not - I was hoping to get just one for the particular problem. I'll defer downloading that until tomorrow - someone might have something else to add here. Thanks again. Zante.

You could also download "VLC Media Player" from http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ (Free program)
There is no need to for any other codecs and it will also show subtitles if supplied.

(The program is also smaller than most of the codec packs that are available)

I'll second that.

VLC will play practically "any" type of movie or audio file.
In fact I don't know of any it will not play.

Been and back - you might be interested to know that I downloaded the VLC and while it played DVD's etc anywhere else it didn't play the picture in the DVD's that are in the actual power point shows (this was the same with windows media player).

So - downloaded the Klite pack and - success! it plays the pictures as well as the sounds (with windows media player) and was quick to download (about 9 minutes) and it seemed to set itself up to do what it had to do as I just let it install with what it had ticked (I didn't add anything).

I'm not having any troubles with it although I did do a restore point before installing

So I am happy and thanks to you all again - Zante.
