I hope somebody can help me with this as I'm now getting as frustrated as my son
He has been working on a
Publisher project for GCSE coursework for several nights now and when he tried to open the file in school he couldn't open it!!
The Publisher used in school appears to be part of
Office XP ... (he says he remembers that they have to point to
Office XP when using the schools Publisher) ..at home we have
Office 2003 Pro.I also have a disc to
Office XP Student and Teacher and thought I had my solution >> I would quickly re-do the work on the office version for him >>> but to my dismay I've discovered it doesn't include Publisher as its only a "standard" edition
I've been down the route of checking the "
Save as" .. type options and there isn't one for xp, just save as publisher files, which is the default, or publisher 98, publisher 2000 as well as lots of others that aren't publisher files.
I think there might be some formatting loss too if saved as a much older file type.
I'm so angry with the school about this and I'll be giving them a call tomorrow ... my point is that their school is a "specialised Math and
Computer College" and they are so behind with software!
They do have Office 2003 but apparently its installed on a select few pc's in another computer suit eleswhere in the school.
My other son even had to point out to the teacher last year that simply installing the
office compatibility update would enable all children to open homework that has been created using Word 2007... it still hasn't been done, they were told to re-save the files as older types instead
The teacher did not speak to them and warn of using a different version of Publisher which appears to be one of the main office programs that won't open files created with a different version.
I just hope the poor kid doesn't have to do the whole project again .. he'd have to do it in school after hometime .. if I had the program I would re-do it for him, he's worked hard on this and has so much other work he has to be getting on with ... he was near to tears when he came home today.
Any
ideas anyone?
*GCSE work is started in year 9 now so at age 13 they have an awful lot on their shoulders!
