I have just downloaded Eusing and tried it and according to its search facility I have 4,986 errors!

I have just ran Eusing and had almost 400 errors ...the last scan was about two months ago but I haven't done much apart from browse the internet.

As Phil said, they are not "errors" as such, just left over or invalid old files and if you have never ran one of these programs before, or its a long time since you ran one then the amount doesn't seem excessive.

If you think about how often you've installed programs, uninstalled programs, moved files about these alone would give hundreds of invalid keys ...

Any problems and it has a very simple way of restoring the session you just deleted.
There's also a box to check "create a system restore point before repair" .. you'll find this by clicking on Edit/Options at the top.

Taking the advice offered I have tried the sofware to clean the registry.

Afterwards I had lost: Microsoft Office Outlook, IE8, could not open Word, Microsoft Excel, and to say the least I was extremely p'd off!

I restored everything and am back using my PC. (Obviously)

Thanks anyway for the advice and comments, Peter.

Oh dear! Looks like a bit of a calamity doesn't it?

Because you have restored and removed/uninstalled programs, it would be good to restate where you are at now.

Ignoring iTunes for now, is everything working as you expect it to?

Can you see your My Music folder where it should be?
Does it have music files in it?

Is your new printer/scanner installed and working?

If the answer to all of this is affirmative, then perhaps a fresh download and install of iTunes is the way forward. Use Revo Uninstaller to remove iTunes if it's still on your system first though.

Sorry to hear you hit problems, but did it solve the original problem?

Did you try running the Office repair option from within "Add Remove Programs" for MS Office, by selecting the "Change" option which then brings up the various Repair, Remove or Reinstall options.

Wow! I have never heard of anyone having such problems like that after running Eusing

I take it you just done the restore registry with Eusing thus restoring and "undoing" the changes it made?

Thankyou for the remarks.
(1) I have generated a new "System Restore" point after the restore and I shall leave well alone!
(2) Everything is AOK, at the moment.
(3) There is a "My Music" folder but it is empty, c'est la vie!
(4) Printer/scanner has never been a problem only the idiot operating the system!
(5) I have given up on itunes, it was only the music I remember from my hippie days (I am 62) and most of it I have on vinyls but it was handy as MP3 to put on a memory stick to play in the car with my transmitter in the cigarette lighter.

Thanks again, Peter.

Hi Peter,

Did you know that you can use your computer to record all those vinyl records and transfer them to CD? (Or create MP3's).

Audacity is free: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/

Tutorials here: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/faq?s=recording&i=records-tapes
And here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Transferring_tapes_and_records_to_computer_or_CD

Who needs iTunes?

I really appreciate all the advice and help being offered, I would very much like to record my vinyl records into another media but my stereo system is quite ancient and only has the speaker and headphone outlets which I understood from another forum are unuseable for connection to the PC.

My knowledge of things electrical is somewhat limited so until the day when I can afford a modern system I will wait and satisfy the yearnings for music by other means.

MP3 does mean that I can download my other favourites Electronica and Heavy Rock, I was also a headbanger at one stage!

My thanks, Peter,

Audacity, in the tutorials, suggests using the headphones socket. Although you don't get the best output through that, you can still do it.

If you're interested, I have a paid for program and it not only allows cleaning of crackles and hiss, but the package I bought includes a battery powered pre-amp. Using that connected directly to the turntable output means I can get good quality recordings without using the headphones socket. I am very pleased with the CD's I've done so far (over 25).

It depends on how your turntable connects to your system. Internally wired is no good for the pre-amp unless you are prepared to do a bit of rewiring.

There are also other products, such as a turntable that includes everything you need to record directly onto CD. They aren't necessarily cheap though - about £140 if I remember.

Hi Peter
Sorry to hear the iTunes problem couldn't be corrected at this stage, (and I can understand you leaving it be too) ...
BUT ... I noticed you mentioned no back up of your music ... did you say you had your music on an external hard drive? ... if so, and they are simply mp3 music files then you can use a number of other media players to play them.
So you may not have lost your music afterall!

Windows Media Player, part of the operating system, will play your files and create a library with playlists, favourites etc ... so no installing a new program or anything complicated

or have I misunderstood about the external drive

Something else all music lovers should have is Spotify, you'll find all those tracks that you have on vinyl !

sign up for a free version and you can play all your favourite music as though its there on your pc ... even make playlists ... everyone is raving about Spotify:

*It's now so popular its become invitation only, but you can sign up for the free version and just wait for them to contact you or of course choose a paid for version:

http://www.spotify.com/en/products/overview/

..and lastly, another free and easy way to get your favourite tracks onto your pc is to "download" them from youtube with the likes of any video converter free and choose to save them as mp3.

In which case the difference in quality will probably not be noticed.

All you need is a stereo lead from your HiFi headphone socket to your PC Audio in socket. (Do not use the Microphone socket on the PC)
Then use any recording program that you already have.
The basics of it are:-
1. Open the recording program ready to record.
2. Play the record on your HiFi.
3. Press record on your recoding program.
4. Press stop when the record finishes.

Obviously you will need to set the Audio In volume level at the required level in the Audio settings in Control panel.

I cannot see myself rigging up wires all over the house to reach the PC but the thought is welcomed.

I appreciate all the help and ideas for this particular problem.

Regards, Peter.
