I use Thunderbird as my default email program in both Windows and Mac but the real problem I have with it is the inability to define the font size exactly. You can make it larger/smaller, set it to x-small, small, med, large, x-large etc, but you cannot define, for example, 10-point or 12-point and I find its resulting fonts in sent messages can be very unpredictable. What looks OK when composed in Thunderbird can look minuscule or humongous when viewed in a different program.
If I could find a "free" alternative that was similar in use to Thunderbird (Windows and Mac) but with proper font settings, I would change. I find this a very serious shortcoming and I've seen complaints about this from others. _________________ Mike
