There is a basic "freebie" PDF to Word conversion program HERE which some may find useful if they have a need to edit PDFs. Wink

I tried this out and, as Mike has said, the program is basic. I tested it on a large (95 pages) file that had no images, no tables but did have bullet points and margin sub-titles in it.

The program was very easy to use, and was very quick producing a Word copy. The problem was, it put everything into text boxes and sometimes it put single words in a text box. There were no paragraphs or blocks of text produced together and in one text box.

I scanned the same document using Abbyy Fine Reader and it was perfectly reproduced. Abbyy to ages took process it though. About ten minutes I think.

If you have nothing else to use, the free program could be a help.

In the past I have managed to simply copy and paste the text from a PDF into word.
Obviously this method only works with text and not pictures.

I don't fully understand everything about .pdf's ... but can't they be "locked" so that you cannot edit them Question

Yes, during creation they can be locked so that they cannot be copied and/or printed. I will have to have a play about with the conversion program to see if it works with a .PDF that can be neither copied nor printed.

Update. It does convert a locked .PDF document which cannot be copied or printed. Cool

No, I use PrimoPDF and I set its "Security" to disallow Copying and Printing of the document that I subsequently converted.

Please excuse my ignorance but I have downloaded and tried this application and when it states that it has converted the .pdf file and I try to open in Word I get only a blank page with no content!

Any ideas?

Regards, Peter.

I didn't currently have the program installed so I downloaded it again and installed it in Windows Vista. It is very primitive, but did actually convert a PDF file into Word although, as Dave mentioned, all of the text in the Word document is contained within text boxes. I'm sure a search on Google could find something better.

I cannot suggest a reason why you should have ended up with blank pages, but if you want to send me the particular PDF file, I'll give it a try.
