HI,

Having bought one of these - to my mind - brilliant wireless all in ones, I have one question.

Since loading the quite large ammount of software, the Internet connection from My PC to the router, seems to take a lot longer to load up. (I can wait a minute for the icon to show "connected" in the task bar area. I say this, because having installed the exact same ammunt of the software on my Laptop, this is no slower.

Both PC's use Vista HP, the Laptop connects via wirless, but the Desktop via RJ45.

Any ideas?

Thanks - Dave

HP printers are my favourites. However, HP software isn't. They always include a bunch of stuff that you don't necessarily need, and set themselves to launch at start-up.

Try taking all of the HP software out of start-up (use 'msconfig' to do it) and see if that makes any difference. It might be the HP updates service trying to phone home, or perhaps a web publishing service that HP thinks you need.

Hi Dave,

I have done a bit of digging on this, and found that a program called HpqSRmon.exe is shutting down all the time (found this in the reliability monitor section in Vista). Following a bit of too-ing and fro-ing with HP via email, I have used msconfig to remove all references to HP, (barring hp Digital imaging - as apparantly thats required for printing and scanning).

There wasn't much (I'd already declined to install the phone home bits), but there is also an update for the HpqSRmon issue (which I've installed).

So, I'll wait and see what happens - first thoughts are it IS a bit quicker, but I tend to switch the Computer on, then go and make a coffee Rolling Eyes

Have you tried changing the setting to "Manual" in "Administrative Tools - Services" ?
That way it will not start each time the PC starts and only starts once you have clicked on the printer.
That way startup should be slightly quicker and I doubt if you will notice the slight delay, and if you aren't using the printer then it's also something else not running in the background which may not be needed.
