I would like your advice about connecting my laptop wirelessly to my router and in turn, connecting the laptop to my TV.
At present I have a BT Homehub 2 router with a desktop connected by ethernet. As I would like to utilise my TV as a large monitor downstairs, I thought I could connect up my old TINY (01?) laptop that is working well on mains power as the battery is on its way out. I believe I can use a BELKIN N1 wireless Notebook card in the laptop as the router is operating on Wifi 'n' . Is that good so far?

The next thing is to connect to any of my TVs. I have listed the ports on the laptop below:

USB, IEEE 1394, RJ45, PC/VGA port (blue), parallel port? (red) + a yellow jack port, headphone jack, microphone jack, PS2 and finally 2x PCMCIA ports.

My main TV is a PANASONIC CRT type with scarts, it is a bit elderly by modern standards but does have some AV ports on the front, namely: S-video (4pin) and 3 jacks coloured white, red and yellow, which I believe are L & R audio + video.

The other TVs are LCD and have the blue PC/VGA socket plus various others or in the case of a PHILIPS, connection is by a HDMI apparently.

Would you be able to advise how to connect to the PANASONIC especially and or any of the others. I do have a drawer full of various cables but I believe most cables can be supplied with various connectors.

The general advice is not to try and use a CRT TV as a monitor for a PC, because the TV doesn't have a high enough resolution to give an acceptable image quality. However, if the computer has an S-video output, that would be the way to go.

With these, it should just be a matter of running a monitor cable from the Laptop's VGA output to the LCD TV's PC input socket. Laptops often have a key combination (Fn+?) to toggle the display between internal, external or both.
