If I try to open a link by opening in a new, the new tab does not open. I try and duplicate the tab which sometimes works but most of the time it does not.

Can anyone help?

I assume you mean opening links in a new tab, rather than a new window, in a web browser? If so, which browser are you using and which version of it?

Try downloading a fresh copy of I.E.8 and installing it. That might just fix the problem:

This problem can be caused by the Link Scanner in AVG so if you use that try disabling it before going the whole hog and reinstalling IE8.

Other causes have been certain toolbars so perhaps you could try temporarily disabling them and see how you go, either disable one at a time or vice versa.
