When trying to view the live stream from QVCUK.COM all I get is the message "Buffering QVC live stream Please Wait". It works fine on two laptops running Vista & Linux, and also works OK when viewing the live stream fron the USA site QVC.COM. Any suggestion please?

Try changing the transport method in Windows Media Player

1. Double Click on your Windows Media Player Icon to launch it.
2. 'Tools' in the top toolbar of the player.
3 'Options' from the drop-down menu.
4. 'Network' tab in the Options window.
5. In the protocols section make sure that ONLY the HTTP and TCP boxes are selected. Deselect the others if they are selected and do not change the Proxy settings.
6. Click the 'Apply' button at the bottom of the Window.
7. 'OK' in that Window to close it, and then click 'OK' again in the Options window to close that too.
8. The change in transport types is now complete.

I think you might be on the right track here. For some strange reason I am unable to access the network tab in Media Player, all the others work OK it is just the Network option.

Have a look here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940029

You may need to re-register a dll file.

I followed the instructions in the link you provided but still can not access the network tab in media player.

You could always try removing Windows Media Player and downloading a fresh copy to install.

I have tried to uninstall it with no success, it does not appear in add/remove software.

Windows Media player (likely version 11 you will have) cannot be uninstalled as simply as other programs which we would remove via add/remove programs applet or programs and features as it is called on vista .... you will need to make sure the box is checked at the top which says "show updates" .. scroll right down to the microsoft updates etc and you will find an entry listed Windows Media Player ..and maybe some other updates with windows media player in its title.

The problem is, I'm not sure if removing in this way rolls back to the previous version (should be 10 ) and then lets you update again to version 11.
You have to be careful in case you mess files up and then on trying to update you start getting messages saying you already have the latest version installed. I have read of this happening so many times!

I would have a bit of a google first for the correct method or wait for Dave to post back as he might know more.

Wink

PS, it might be worth manually setting your connection speed instead of letting it be detected just incase its being detected wrong, setting found at Tools:Options:Performance tab

PPS, is it worth checking firewall scratch

If you have XP, and you have updated Media Player to version 11, you can 'remove' it 3 ways:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934372

If you have Vista, the method Anne has described may do it, but I don't know (I don't have Vista).

From Google searches, solutions to your problem weren't exactly prolific. If none of the fixes looked at so far have worked, then a possible way round it is trying an alternative media player and making the default instead of WMP.

By 'uninstalling' WMP 11, you are effectively rolling it back to the earlier version, which should allow you to update it afresh to version 11. That might resolve it, but we are in uncharted waters now.

Although the symptoms you have described don't fit the scenario, this fix for Vista might be worht looking at:

Is it possible the Network tab has been hidden in the past:
