But, it's the way that you should read em that counts. :P

What Peter R, described helped in pointing out that his problem was not down to the default text on the upper window bar showing his ISP, but helping to determine where the problem lay.

It looks as though it may be the name of the "Wireless Network Connection" within the Network Connections folder that has the reference to "talktalk" in brackets after it.

Open the Network Connections folder ("Start > Run", type ncpa.cpl and click OK) and you should then be able to edit the name of the Wireless Network Connection - right click and select 'Rename'.

Disregard that! Sad

After a bit more playing about with names, it seems that the detail you see in brackets is definitely from the router's SSID and that's where it needs to be removed, if it isn't hard coded into the router (i.e. the router wasn't supplied specifically for use with TalkTalk as part of their package).

Peter in your screen shot to the left of the network name is "customise", click on this and you should then get the option to change the network name.

Anne

Oops ... sorry, I was thinking you wanted to change @ BT, I now see that you mean the name further down in brackets .

Looking at my own Vistas Network and Sharing centre (although connected via ethernet) I would have thought Mikes suggestion at renaming your Wireless Connection in the Network Connections folder would have sorted it, however, just a thought, are you perhaps using a wireless adapter provided by Talk Talk and the name maybe hard coded :? I've deleted a couple of the duplicates.

What was the solution to the problem eventually?

Mike I looked in the router settings and found the SSID was named talktalk so I changed the name in there clicked apply and that was it

Peters, I don't think it is worrying so much about the look of something but if Peterr is like me he can't help wanting to know what caused it, however insignificant the problem might be! Since advancing from a raw beginner, and in the early days Peters, you and others helped me heaps, I find my PC a constant source of amazement and I want to know every little thing about it - and as we all know there are plenty of 'little things' that ahppen with no visible reaason!

However, being female - I also like things to be 'pretty' or at least pleasing to my eye.

Cheers, Zante
