PostSubject: firefox download helper   Fri Feb 27, 2009 1:57 am

I have recently installed Firefox Download Helper and Applian FLV player so that I can play the videos - great program and does what it says quickly but:

the window that plays the video is very small and sometimes makes it quite hard to see the video - is there a fix for this or settings that I haven't as yet found?

Thanks for help. Zante.

The Applian website does say that the player can "Zoom 50% - 100% - 200% and full screen" so there must be a setting to do this, unless individual content restricts the available viewing size.

Hi Mike, I clicked the settings button at bottom of window and ticked 'maintain framerate in fullscreen mode (CPU intensive)'

Nothing happened is this where you meant? Zante.

Zante,

I use FLV Player from here:
http://www.martijndevisser.com/blog/flv-player/

But, I also have VLC Player and that will play flv files too.

There's one thing about videos downloaded in flv format, and that is they will usually only look 'good' in the smaller view size because of the file quality. Zooming in will produce a pixelated/blocky video.

Try out these progs if you want, they might perform a bit better for you.

I wonder whether it might be worth you using the program I came across the other day when looking to get video files onto the ipod touch.

The free version of this program only covers 3 to 3 and a half minute videos when converting but as I was only getting music vids it catered for our needs.

You could use it to download the youtube vids and convert to whatever file type you want .... loads supported!

My son converts some of the files to mp3 only as he doesn't want the video but just wanted the mp3 sound track and it does this brilliantly.

EDIT;

Sorry ... I thought the video window was "expandable" ..... It's fairly small although very clear.

Thank you Anne - I'll give that a go as well - I quite enjoy trying out new programs etc. Zante.
