Interesting what one of the reviewers mentioned about the product on Play.com

I would have thought what that means by the exact same format is if for arguments sake you downloaded a .gif file but then changed the format to .jpeg or anything else, it then would not be compatible, but I think it's something that you are going to have to experiment with to see exactly what does or does not happen with files that you alter.

Although I'm not too sure what other formats camera's save their files as.

When you change a picture, like remove red-eye or rotate it, although the format may be the same, other information is added to the file, like tags I suppose.

That would mean the camera original is no longer the same and I assume the device wouldn't be able to read the file.
