PostSubject: Monitor Resolution   Fri Jan 09, 2009 2:09 pm

Hi,

I need to set my resolution to 1440x900, according to my new Acer widescreen monitor. I don't have this setting in control>Display>Settings, and so, have it set at 1024x768, there is a slight pixillating. Can the required resolution be found, or am i needing some upgrade?

Thanks guys.

Have you installed the drivers for the new monitor? That should then offer the appropriate settings.

Either that, or is it a setting from the monitor menu that you need to adjust?

1024x768 is not a "widescreen" resolution setting and would normally result in black bars at either side of the screen. Stretching the image to fill the screen (which is possible with some monitors) will cause distortion of the image. See if there are updated graphics drivers available for your card on the manufacturer's website, to implement the additional resolution settings necessary for use with a widescreen monitor.

I would have thought that you need a graphics card to suite the monitor to be able to get the resolution required, which is the reason why you don't have that setting.
However, with the setting you have chosen, it still should not cause any pixilation, only the size of text and icons on the monitor.
