Do any of you have some knowledge of the iPod Touch and how to transfer music videos or movies as try as I might I just cannot get iTunes to synch with music vids or "movies" that I have converted to MPEG4

*(using the option in iTunes to "make Apple TV version" it converts video files to MPEG4)

But I just can't seem to get them onto the ipod

Only ever played around with one once, but what I discovered was that for things to work they have to be in their respective "iPod default" folders.

What my friend did was just drag-n-drop files onto/into the iPod root directory, and they did not work.

I ended-up (discovered) having to download and install iTunes on the PC to be able to select the files I wanted to transfer from PC to iPod (drag-n-drop does not work).

Although this was for music, assume movie files would be a very similar procedure.

Just guessing now as it's been some time, but did you create a "Play list"

Hi Phil,

thanks for the reply ..... I've actually got it to work! Very Happy

Turns out that the file type was fine .. the files were in their correct folders within iTunes .. but I think the bit rate or frame rate was no good for what the ipod Touch supports (either that or some other sort of fault within the conversion)

Anyway, I found this little tutorial with a link to a program to use and I just followed what it said to the letter and it was spot on ... Bingo! .... all the music videos to songs and a few favourites from youtube were synched to the iTouch.

http://www.any-video-converter.com/convert-video-for-ipod-touch.php

The program is great! .... it only supports about 3 to 4 mins of video unless you pay for the pro version .... but most music vids are only around that length anyway ....you can even download from youtube using the program and convert it.
Conversion is available for loads of different devices too Wink

Hope this helps others

PS, where I said I used "make apple tv version" ..... I think that is something totally different and not for on the iTouch Rolling Eyes

Glad to hear everything is now working.

The main thing I remember from my only encounter was that even if files were drag-n-dropped into the correct folder they would not work.
They had to be imported through the program.

Yeah that's correct Phil .. they do have to go through iTunes .... no other way .. unless you get one of the cracks or hacks that claim to allow you to ditch iTunes . Rolling Eyes
