redesignating keyboard keys

Now I'm going to ask a whacky question, but... my friend's Acer travelmate 533xc laptop has a non functioning "N" key. Rather than strip the laptop down and end up with a pile of bits, is it possible to redesignate the N key and perhaps swap it with the Alt Gr key to give keyboard functionality. Stupid question, but you never know, thanks in anticipation, moxy.

No,not my nice new one,the daughters.

She rang this morning, she pressed the start up and nothing happened,is what she said.

Anyway she has a laptop so no panic, she brought it up here to me this afternoon.

What do you think about netbooks? because I'm going to buy one but I don't know if it's the best decision I take, I don't know much about them that's why I want some recommendations, I found a site where they are giving aways a free Samsung NC10 and you only need to register, that sound good; but well I read about the NC10 it seems to be a strong netbook but I want recommendations and another options, I want to know all the good and the bad of netbooks before I buy one.
Anyone here with experience of this particular bit of kit?

I do some work for a small office with 4 PCs and two networked printers, using peer-to-peer networking, they used this particular Maxtor device for a centralised share system before upgrading their network - now it's a backup device, and a Freecom NAS drive is the main device for all files. They had a problem with the network recently, suddenly no internet connectivity though they could still share files between computers and the NAS ...

HI,

Due to ongoing problems, all my PC's are now having to use wireless access to the Router. The one PC i am having problems with is my XP one.

PC Monitor as Photo frame?

I have a spare 19" monitor that is not used for anything at present. I would like to use it as a large 'Photo frame' without using a computer. Is there any gadget that I could connect to it that would accept (for example) a USB memory stick loaded with some of my pics, that would display them all in a slide show. If there is such a gadget, what is it called and where would I get it?

I need to set my resolution to 1440x900, according to my new Acer widescreen monitor. I don't have this setting in control>Display>Settings, and so, have it set at 1024x768, there is a slight pixillating. Can the required resolution be found, or am i needing some upgrade?

Thanks guys.

transferring music

This is not exactly a computer question but being in the 'techy' area some of you may know about it.

Is there a machine that you can play old 78's (records that is) on and download/burn/copy straight onto a CD that would be inserted into the same machine. I know I can do this through the PC but something along the lines of what I have asked would be sooo much easier and quicker.

Hi, I have a basic grasp of the difference between primary partitions, logical drives etc, but is on better than the other in terms of separating data in the event of needing to re-install. The reason I am asking is that I have recently re-installed on my XP machine. Drive D was a logical drive, not a primary partition, but the re-install still allowed this to be recognized and my data is intact. Something intuitively tells me I should make it a primary partition, but does it really make a difference? ...
