I'm going to be buying a laptop soon and would like to know something.

My wife and I live in a flat so being wireless at home is not a big deal.

Our PC is in our spare bedroom and connected by modem to our telephone line.

Wife would like a laptop to use in the lounge.

Now can I have both the laptop and the PC connected at the same time?

I have a spare modem and plenty of telephone cable to run to the lounge.

What I mean is can I use the same ISP software to connect on both?

I don't ...

I was asked to set up wireless for a friend - fairly new Vista laptop, Sagem wireless router supplied by Sky - I could detect the wireless network on the laptop using the standard Vista wireless management, selecting it brought up the usual "enter network key", which is written on the underside of the router - the result every time was "could not connect to network" - my Blackberry 8320 couldn't connect either (wifi, connects to any 802.11b/g network that a computer will so ...

internet speed

Can anyone tell me where in Vista do you find the actual speed that a thing is downloading at at any given time. I thought I used to just right click in tool bar at bottom where computers are that tell you are online but that might have been when I was on dial up. I'm now on broadband. I'm sure that I rarely get the speed that I am paying for and would like to check how I can improve it.Thanks, Zante.

Hi,

i was referred here from the CompeterActive site.

I have a PC with XP, NOD32, Zonealarm & ie6, the laptop has XP NOD32, Windows firewall & ie7.

Hi Mike

I hope you can help me. My wifi is unsecured. My son tried to secure it the other day and now both his and his sisters applemacs cant connect to the internet.

I've read some posts on the webuser and you mention a profile. I wonder if this is the problem with the macs. When I look for the network it is no longer showing on the list. Can't join it either even when putting in the password he's assigned to it.

Can you offer any assistance. We've been wireless since 2005 ...

I have a friend who has a Cable modem with a LAN connection and he wishes to use a WiFi Router that has an ADSL modem to enable WiFi on his Cable Internet. Can anyone help with what I need to do to enable the router to work with the cable modem as I'm sure it will need something like Bridging and DHCP alterations. Thanks.

I am running two laptops wirelessly, and one desktop from a Belkin router which is attached with an ethernet cable to my cable broadband

Both the desktop and one of the laptops connect without bother to the internet, but the other laptop frequently fails to connect and displays the above message.

Since my husband uses this laptop to play a (non internet) game, I don't always bother about it not connecting, but then, perhaps 30-45 minutes later, it will suddenly connect by itself. ...
