Tabs not working

If I try to open a link by opening in a new, the new tab does not open. I try and duplicate the tab which sometimes works but most of the time it does not.

Can anyone help?

Does anyone know of a programme (free if poss) that will download videos from YouTube etc., so that you do not have to log on the Internet to view them. There are a lot of instructional videos that I am interested in all over the place and it would be good if I didn't have to log on and look for them each time.

IE8 automatically installed now downloads are very slow, connected?

Friends, recently IE8 automatically installed on my PC running XP Pro.

Before downloads of music from Itunes, 7digital and Soundclick were rapid transfers, now the download starts quickly (250Kbs) and then plummets to (28-35Kbs) for no reason at all making a download of, e.g. 3.50Mb about 3 minutes!

Is this connected with the installation or perhaps something else?

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

modems - on or off?

Is it better to turn modem off when not online - is there risks to leaving it on? I know some who leave their modems on all the time that the PC is turned on and others who turn the modem off when not needing to be online. I leave mine on when I am at the PC but (if I think of it) turn it off when leaving for a time. Will be interested in your thoughts on this. Zante.

Automatic email address

I am using XP and previously was with TISCALI. On completing online forms that required my email address, my TISCALI address would pop-up automatically, which made life a little bit easier. Now, however, I am with BT but the old TISCALI address still keeps popping up. Is there a way of changing some setting so that my current email address pops up instead of my old address?

My sister has bought a new laptop with Vista on. She can't use the CD to get connected. There is a pop-up that says 'You are not logged in as administrator, Please log off and log in as administrator' She is the administrator, and the only one on. Is this Vista or the TalkTalk CD that won't let her install it?

When trying to view the live stream from QVCUK.COM all I get is the message "Buffering QVC live stream Please Wait". It works fine on two laptops running Vista & Linux, and also works OK when viewing the live stream fron the USA site QVC.COM. Any suggestion please?

firefox download helper

I have recently installed Firefox Download Helper and Applian FLV player so that I can play the videos - great program and does what it says quickly but:

the window that plays the video is very small and sometimes makes it quite hard to see the video - is there a fix for this or settings that I haven't as yet found?

Firefox check spelling while I type error

Since upgrading to 3.0.6 wel I think it's since this.
This feature just keeps re ticking it's self.
I keep un ticking it and next time I restart the fox back it comes ticked.
I Haven't tried a complete reinstall of the fox just yet.I was hoping to avoid it if possible.
I run spell bound as my spell checker and have never had a problem before.
I'm on XP.
Any ideas

At the moment if I open FF then select a link from my previously save "Book marks" the link still opens with IE.

ITMA Albyefield is still around! Our branch is having problems distributing newsletters by e-mail and I wonder if anyone out there can help. Our member list is in the order of 400 and when a bulk e-mail with the newsletter as an attachment is sent we find that certain recipients reject it "too many recipients" this stops the e-mail in it's tracks. I'm having aggro with my BT internet dropping out. A B T engineer says the exchange line is o.k. and their internet people says nothing wrong with their server. Networked printer problem

For some time I have been printing to a networked printer through a Netgear router never any problems but today I cannot print anything from my PC I can still print from my laptop and my wifes laptop on the same network.
