I have had this coming up quite a lot. A window comes up asking if I want to use the default debugger. I usually click the no box as I once clicked yes and it displayed an error message about an exception occuring.

I am new here, I found the link on another site and hope someone can help.

My PC is a Dell Dimension, I've had it a few years. Running with XP.

When I go onto start, all programs then hover over any program, it says empty

I cannot open a program in the usual way. All the programs are still there but I have to go the long way round to open anything.

I searched on line and found some info about program shells not initialising.

I tried system restore but it said there ...

When we try to boot it, we get the Dell logo, followed by the big microsoft logo then teh screen goes blank for a moment (as it normally would) and then goes to a blue screen with the arrow but nothing else happens.

Friends,

Yet another problem rears its ugly head!

The PC has recently updated automatically and now every time we open Outlook for email etc. we are informed that it is not a valid programme.

It is not entirely unexpected because we had to purchase a disc from Microsoft to re-install XP Pro some 2 years ago. (@ £99.00) The PC was bought for us by my stepson from a company in London (3 years ago) which has since bitten the dust!
