I have a (probably very simple) query around shared files.

I have just loaded 7 onto a new clean Hard drive partition with no problems.

I have a Laptop running Vista, and another Desktop running XP.

Edited:

If I open the Windows 7 Computer "Network", I can see all the connected computers that are "On Line".

However from either of the other computers (not running 7) the Windows 7 Computer is NOT visible.

Is it possible to get the Vista Laptop and ...

This is the message I posted on CA, still not resolved. My queery is if this is not resolved can I simply install W7 in the condition my laptop is now?

Thank you for any help.

Due to my utter stupidity, please don't ask, my Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop, Vista HP, will not boot into the OS.

A message pops up that tells me to insert the Windows Cd and click on "repair", but of course I don't have such a thing. I have a Dell " Drivers and Utilities" DVD ...

I noticed on my c drive the old windows files after putting in my new windows 7.

Only because I seen how full it was.

Now I installed after running the RC for a while.

Now I assumed that the new disc would overwrite(reformat)all my files.

I have a partioned drive anyway so I wouldn't lose them.

On closer inspection it appears not.

All the files I had on c drive before instaling are still there.

I don't remember seeing a format option when I installed.

There must be one??

I have a friend with a new video camera. Obviously, they want to burn their videos to a DVD to play then from their DVD player. I thought it should be fine if I got the files off the camera, then used Nero to create the DVD.

There is no sound on the finished result. I have seen that this is a common problem with Nero, but there is no simple solution. So the questions are:

Should the camera software be able to ...

Friends, not sure if this is the section in which to post this question but here goes, yesterday I downloaded itunes and after installation every time I click on the icon it informs me that the "My Music" folder does not exist and cannot be created!

This is true, I removed the "My Music" folder just to have a folder named "Music" on an external HD. (There was very little room left on my (D) drive to allow more music and photographic downloads)

Greetings All,

This is not so much a problem … just something I'm puzzled about.

Last week, I was asked by a friend to set up a wireless home network for her.

She has a newish Windows XP Pro desktop computer that she exclusively used, plus 2 older, unused desktop computers with XP Home that were well out-of-date and also had a variety of malware on both of them.

I cleaned her 2 older PCs (2 & 3) and installed SP3 plus all the Windows Updates, .NET Frameworks, upgrades to ...

However it did install quickly and it does seem to boot much faster than Vista. I'm still using XP drivers for graphics card and sound card, which work OK. It didn't like Office 2003, which caused the whole PC to hang, so I've installed ...

He then installed XP because he was told that the program would work with that. It didn't!

He then put Vista back in and got the program to work -

Problem: Now every now and then a window pops up asking for the product key. It will click off without actually putting key in but it is a nuisance. Anybody have any ideas to get rid of it?

Thanks in advance, Zante.

Method 2 - might be needed because ZA leaves behind a lot of stuff after uninstalling (even using Revo to do it.)

Start up in Safe Mode and then uninstall ZA. ...

Is it better to turn modem off when not online - is there risks to leaving it on? I know some who leave their modems on all the time that the PC is turned on and others who turn the modem off when not needing to be online. I leave mine on when I am at the PC but (if I think of it) turn it off when leaving for a time. Will be interested in your thoughts on this. Zante.
